Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 30, 2025 | Last Updated: March 30, 2025
1. Introduction
Welcome to BMI Dashboard, a free online health and fitness calculator operated by SPINAI ("we," "us," or "our"). BMI Dashboard is accessible at https://bmi-bodyfat.vercel.app and provides users with tools to calculate Body Mass Index (BMI) and estimate body fat percentage using scientifically recognized formulas. We are deeply committed to protecting your privacy and maintaining transparency about the way we handle information when you interact with our platform.
This Privacy Policy explains in detail what information we collect (and what we do not collect), how we use any data that is gathered, the role of cookies and local storage technologies on our site, how third-party services interact with your browsing experience, the measures we take to safeguard your information, and the rights you hold under applicable data protection laws including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). By using BMI Dashboard, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, we respectfully ask that you discontinue use of our website.
This policy applies to all visitors, users, and anyone else who accesses or uses the Service, regardless of their geographic location. We may update this policy from time to time, and any material changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date displayed at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
2. Information We Collect
BMI Dashboard has been designed from the ground up with a privacy-first philosophy. We collect the absolute minimum amount of information necessary to deliver and improve our services. Unlike many web applications, we do not require user registration, login credentials, or any form of account creation. You can use all of our calculators without ever providing your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information (PII).
Calculator Inputs: When you use our BMI calculator or body fat percentage estimator, you may enter personal health measurements such as your height, weight, age, gender, and body circumference measurements (neck, waist, and hip). These values are processed entirely within your web browser using client-side JavaScript. At no point are these measurements transmitted to our servers, stored in any database, or shared with any third party. Once you close your browser tab or navigate away from the page, these values exist only if you have chosen to save them in your browser's local storage for convenience on future visits.
Anonymous Usage Data: We may collect aggregated, anonymized usage data to understand how our tools are being used. This includes information such as which type of calculation was performed (BMI, body fat, or both), which unit system was selected (metric or imperial), and general result category ranges (for example, what percentage of calculations fall within the "normal weight" BMI range). This data is fully anonymized and cannot be used to identify any individual user. It serves solely to help us understand usage patterns and prioritize feature development.
Browser and Device Information: Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure may automatically collect standard technical information transmitted by your browser. This can include your browser type and version, operating system, screen resolution, referring URL (the page that linked you to our site), and your IP address. Where possible, IP addresses are truncated or anonymized to prevent individual identification. This technical data is used exclusively for security monitoring, performance optimization, and diagnosing technical issues.
No Personal Identity Collected: To be unequivocally clear, we do not ask for, store, process, or have access to your name, email address, date of birth, social security number, financial information, or any other data that could be used to personally identify you. We have intentionally designed our service so that you can benefit from our health tools without sacrificing your privacy.
3. How We Use Information
The limited information we collect is used exclusively for the purpose of maintaining and improving the BMI Dashboard service. We believe in data minimization and only use information when it serves a clear, legitimate purpose. Specifically, we use collected information in the following ways:
Analytics and Service Improvement: Anonymous usage data helps us understand which features and calculators are most popular, which input options are most commonly used, and where users may encounter difficulties. For example, if we observe that a significant number of users switch from metric to imperial units during a session, we might consider changing the default unit system or making the toggle more prominent. These insights drive our product development roadmap and help us build a better, more user-friendly tool.
Performance Monitoring: Technical browser and device information allows us to monitor the health and performance of our website. We track metrics such as page load times, error rates, and uptime to ensure that BMI Dashboard remains fast, reliable, and accessible to users on all devices and browsers. If we detect performance degradation on a particular browser or device type, this data helps us diagnose and resolve the issue quickly.
Aggregate Statistics: We may compile aggregate statistical reports based on anonymized usage data. For example, we might report that "65% of our users calculate BMI using the imperial system" or "the most common BMI range among our users falls between 22 and 27." These statistics contain no personally identifiable information and may be shared publicly in blog posts, reports, or marketing materials to demonstrate the reach and utility of our platform. We do not sell, rent, lease, or trade any data, whether aggregate or individual, to third-party advertisers, data brokers, or marketing companies.
4. Cookies and Local Storage
BMI Dashboard uses a minimal set of browser storage technologies to enhance your experience. Understanding what these technologies are and how we use them is important for your privacy awareness.
Session Cookies: We may use session cookies, which are small text files stored temporarily in your browser's memory. These cookies expire when you close your browser and are used to maintain basic session state while you navigate between pages on our site. Session cookies do not contain any personally identifiable information and are not used for tracking or advertising purposes.
Local Storage (localStorage): We use your browser's localStorage feature to save certain user preferences so that your experience is consistent across visits. Specifically, localStorage may be used to remember your preferred unit system (metric or imperial), your most recently used calculator inputs (so you do not have to re-enter them each time), and any display or theme preferences you have selected. Data stored in localStorage resides solely on your device, is never transmitted to our servers, and remains under your complete control. You can view, modify, or delete localStorage data at any time through your browser's developer tools or privacy settings.
Third-Party Cookies: Third-party services integrated into our site, such as advertising networks and analytics providers, may set their own cookies on your device. These third-party cookies are governed by the respective privacy policies of those services, not by this policy. We describe these third-party services in detail in the following sections and provide guidance on how to opt out of their tracking if you wish to do so.
5. Third-Party Services
BMI Dashboard integrates with a limited number of third-party services to support its operations. Each of these services has its own privacy practices, and we encourage you to review their individual policies.
Google AdSense: We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on our website. Google AdSense is an advertising service provided by Google LLC that allows website publishers to earn revenue by displaying targeted ads. When you visit BMI Dashboard, Google may place cookies on your browser to serve advertisements based on your prior visits to our site and other websites across the internet. Google uses technologies such as cookies, web beacons, and JavaScript tags to collect information about your browsing activity. This information may include your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit, and the time and date of your visit. Google uses this data to provide advertisements that are relevant to your interests, a practice known as interest-based or personalized advertising. For more information about how Google collects and processes data in connection with AdSense, please review Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Analytics: We may use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to collect and analyze anonymous information about how visitors use our site. Google Analytics uses cookies to track user interactions, including page views, session duration, bounce rate, and traffic sources. All data collected by Google Analytics is aggregated and anonymized. We do not use Google Analytics to collect personally identifiable information. You can learn more about Google Analytics data practices at Google's Privacy Policy and opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Vercel Hosting: BMI Dashboard is hosted on Vercel, a cloud platform for static sites and serverless functions. Vercel may collect standard server access logs as part of its hosting infrastructure. These logs may include your IP address, request timestamps, and HTTP headers. Vercel's data handling practices are governed by Vercel's Privacy Policy. Vercel uses a global Content Delivery Network (CDN) to serve our website, which means your requests may be routed through servers in various geographic locations to optimize load times and performance.
6. Third-Party Advertising
BMI Dashboard is a free service supported by advertising revenue. We partner with advertising networks that display ads on our website to help cover the costs of development, hosting, and ongoing maintenance. Understanding how advertising networks operate is important for making informed choices about your online privacy.
How Ad Networks Work: When you visit a web page that contains ads, the advertising network's servers deliver the ad content directly to your browser. During this process, the ad network may place cookies or other tracking technologies on your device. These cookies allow the ad network to build a profile of your browsing interests over time by observing which websites you visit across the internet. This profile is then used to select and display advertisements that are likely to be relevant to your interests, a practice commonly referred to as interest-based advertising or behavioral advertising. It is important to note that ad network profiles typically do not contain your name, email address, or other directly identifying information; they rely on anonymous identifiers associated with your browser or device.
How to Opt Out of Interest-Based Advertising: If you prefer not to receive personalized advertisements, you have several options available to you. First, you can visit the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) Opt-Out Tool, which allows you to opt out of interest-based advertising from participating ad networks in a single step. Second, you can adjust your advertising preferences through Google Ads Settings to control how Google personalizes the ads you see. Third, you can configure your browser settings to block third-party cookies entirely, which will prevent most ad networks from tracking your activity across websites. Most modern browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge, offer built-in options for blocking third-party cookies in their privacy or security settings. Additionally, many browsers now support "Do Not Track" headers, which signal to websites and ad networks that you prefer not to be tracked. Please note that opting out of interest-based advertising does not mean you will stop seeing ads on BMI Dashboard; it simply means the ads you see may be less relevant to your interests, as they will be served based on contextual factors rather than your browsing history.
7. Data Security
We take the security of your information seriously and implement appropriate technical measures to protect data associated with our service. All communications between your browser and BMI Dashboard are encrypted using HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) with TLS (Transport Layer Security) encryption. This ensures that any data transmitted between your device and our servers cannot be intercepted or read by unauthorized third parties during transit.
Because BMI Dashboard processes all calculator inputs on the client side (within your browser), there is no server-side database containing your health measurements or calculation results. This architecture fundamentally eliminates the risk of a server-side data breach exposing your personal health information. Your measurements never leave your device unless you voluntarily choose to share them through other means. We regularly review our security practices and stay current with industry best practices to maintain a secure browsing environment for our users.
8. Children's Privacy
BMI Dashboard is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Our service is designed for use by adults and older adolescents who are interested in understanding their body composition metrics. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar international regulations that protect the privacy of minors online. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under the age of 13, we will take immediate steps to delete that information from our records. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at taeshinkim11@gmail.com so that we can take appropriate action. We encourage parents and guardians to monitor their children's internet usage and to help enforce this policy by instructing their children never to provide personal information on websites without their permission.
9. International Data Transfers
BMI Dashboard is hosted on Vercel's global Content Delivery Network (CDN), which means that the static files composing our website (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and images) are served from edge servers distributed across multiple geographic regions worldwide. When you access BMI Dashboard, your browser requests are automatically routed to the nearest edge server to minimize latency and provide the fastest possible experience. This means the web assets you download may originate from a server located in a different country than your own.
However, it is important to emphasize that your calculator inputs and health measurements are processed entirely within your own browser and are never transmitted to any server, regardless of its location. The data that remains on your device is subject to the data protection laws of your own jurisdiction. Any anonymized analytics data or server logs that may be collected by our hosting provider or analytics services could be processed in the United States or other countries where those providers operate. Where applicable, these providers maintain appropriate data transfer mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure compliance with international data protection requirements.
10. Your Rights (GDPR/CCPA)
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data under applicable data protection laws. Although BMI Dashboard does not collect personally identifiable information in the traditional sense, we respect and support the following rights:
- Right to Access: You have the right to request information about what personal data, if any, we hold about you. Because we do not collect PII, this request would typically confirm that no personally identifiable data is associated with your use of our service.
- Right to Deletion: You have the right to request the deletion of any personal data we may hold. For data stored locally on your device (such as localStorage preferences), you can delete this data at any time through your browser settings by navigating to Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Clear Browsing Data.
- Right to Opt Out: Under the CCPA, California residents have the right to opt out of the "sale" of their personal information. We do not sell personal information. However, if you wish to opt out of interest-based advertising cookies set by third-party ad networks, please refer to the opt-out methods described in Section 6 of this policy.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights. You will continue to receive the same level of service regardless of your privacy choices.
- Right to Data Portability: You have the right to receive a copy of your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format. Since your calculator data is stored locally in your browser, you can export it directly from your browser's developer tools.
To exercise any of these rights, or if you have questions about your data, please contact us at taeshinkim11@gmail.com. We will respond to all legitimate requests within 30 days.
11. Data Retention
Because BMI Dashboard does not collect personally identifiable information, there is no PII for us to retain or delete on our end. Aggregate and anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely to track long-term usage trends, identify seasonal patterns, and measure the impact of new features or design changes. Server access logs maintained by our hosting provider (Vercel) are typically retained for 30 to 90 days for security and debugging purposes and are then automatically deleted.
Data stored in your browser's localStorage and cookies remains on your device until you manually clear your browser data or until the data expires naturally according to its configured expiration policy. You have full control over this data and can delete it at any time without affecting your ability to use BMI Dashboard. Clearing your localStorage will simply reset your saved preferences and previously entered measurements, requiring you to re-enter them on your next visit.
12. Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or the features of our service. When we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date displayed at the top of this page. We may also provide additional notice of significant changes through a prominent banner or notification on our website.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically, especially before providing any information through our service. Your continued use of BMI Dashboard after any modifications to this policy constitutes your acknowledgment of the updated terms and your consent to abide by them. If you disagree with any changes, your sole remedy is to discontinue use of the Service.
